Scale
The scale of the building would dictate the scale of the surrounding buildings. We could not establish such a building that the neighbourhood would reject. For this reason, we searched mainly for an appropriatly scaled building, which would maintain the utmost of local relations, and simultaneously we strived to find the best residence to accomadate these relations. The formation of the building mass was determined by neighbourhood inspiration: two main concepts were determined. The firewalls, which were on one hand an important character to the neighbouring buildings, were on the other hand the separators of the existing block and their finishing would be one of our tasks. We did want to build beside it, but rather add to it.

Local Value
In the most sensitive mode possible, we reacted to the forms of the neighbouring buildings. With this, we intended to make our building form meaningfully fit in to its surroundings.
We completed the formation of the site in two ways. The planned building covered the firewalls, and simultaneously the form of the building mass evoked them. The new building completed the cubes that were the neighbouring buildings, and at the same time, stated a solution in terms of material selection (i.e. brick).

Amenities
Our final design did not only include our site, but also the surrounding buildings and area. The design established (and brought to life) a courtyard, which in perspective connected the street to the interior space. Larger potted plants were incorporated into the garden, and simultaneously allowed for natural sunlight to the interior space. With regards to the courtyard, such a public space was established that could complete the relatively simpler functions of the small residences. The two roof-top gardens beautiful panoramas gave view to the Geller hill. The courtyard plants and the streets situated potted plants established a visually connected ‘L’, which broke down the boudaries of both sides.

Interior Planning
We connected all of the major functions (residences, parking, and public spaces) lengthwise with a well-lit transparent hallway. This arrangement and the structure gave optimal safety during construction and maximum flexibility.

Economy
In a wider sense we considered the economical value of the building, utilizing a modern mode of constuction and the use of an inexpensive structure. The scale of the building allowed for a suggestively elegant interior, furthermore a building with a solid structure, one that was conservatively planned, and one that optimized its use of space.
